The season is about to start again for the West African Football Academy. This year marks a milestone: WAFA will celebrate 25 years in October. What a journey it has been!

Founded by Feyenoord Rotterdam N.V. as Feyenoord Fetteh Ghana in 1999, it was taken over by Henry Wientjes, the owner of African Tiger Holding Limited Ghana, in 2009.

In 2014, Feyenoord Fetteh Ghana moved to the facilities of FC Red Bull Salzburg/Ghana and was renamed the West African Football Academy after Red Bull Ghana ceased operations.

In the meantime, we have given many players the opportunity to make strides in their lives, both in sports and in social and educational areas. We have created a culture that still exists today.

Perhaps our greatest achievement is that we are still here, because believe me, starting a football academy in Africa and still being operational after 25 years is an accomplishment in itself.

We are eager to see what the next 25 years will bring us!
