We at the West African Football Academy SC are very happy!

Augustine Boakye is transferred from Wolfsberger AC to the newly promoted giant AS SAINT ETIENNE.

Augustine Boakye is a WAFA graduate who left for Wolfsberger AC in August 2021. The first season he played mainly in the 2nd team. It was not an easy season because he was also injured.

The second season he started in the second team but by the end of the season he had his breakthrough in the first team.Augustine had his definitive breakthrough last season. He scored 10 goals and had 9 assists, his contract was broken open and eventually earned a transfer to AS SAINT ETIENNE who returns to Ligue 1.

So what you see is that a player from Ghana basically needs time to get used to it. It is not unusual that such a process takes a year or even more. Planning and having that platform/minutes making is extremely important!

You get better by playing and not by sitting on the bench, but the pressure from the family in Ghana to break through as quickly as possible is often immense. Fortunately, this has all fallen well and we wish Augustine a lot of success in Ligue 1 and on to even more!
